It feels like just yesterday we were getting ready for summer and now we’re wardrobe prepping for our autumn wardrobe already. I love summer and I don’t want to see it go so soon, but I’m also not the type of person who leaves wardrobe prep for too late in the season. I like to be prepared for the season ahead and tell my clients the same thing.

Preparing your autumn wardrobe now means that you’ll have time to go through everything, change what needs to be changed and have a great idea of what needs to be added. In this blog, I’ve put together a few of the best autumn wardrobe trends to watch out for. I’ve also highlighted a few classic autumn items everyone should own.

The Beautiful Blazer

As autumn arrives we’ll start to feel the weather changing. In sunny South Africa, this will be mostly in the early mornings and evenings. Investing in a great blazer is an absolute must. You can throw it on before heading to work and take it off when it gets a little warmer. Heading out for dinner? No problem. Grab that blazer and you’re set to go. Some of the latest trends include pinstriped blazers as well as patterned ones.

The Knitted Dress

Knitted items have made a return and in a big way. You should own at least one knitted dress. They are versatile. They can be worn on their own during early autumn or layered with other items as the weather turns a little cooler. I love the idea of wearing a knee-length knitted dress with a pair of heels for a slightly more casual office look. And, swapping those heels for boots as the weather cools is a great way to create a usable autumn wardrobe.

The Skirt

When planning your autumn wardrobe it’s always a good idea to include a great skirt. Skirts make for amazing autumn wardrobe choices. You can pair them with boots, heels, blazers, button-down shirts and more. Remember when choosing a skirt to find one which flatters your body shape in a colour which can be endlessly paired to accommodate your environment. You also need to be comfortable with your skirt. And this means choosing the right length. I suggest choosing a knee-length one.

The White Pants

White pants were really big in the autumn fashion trends for 2019 and they will be again this year. When buying your white pants, make sure you choose a pair that is of great quality. You can wear it with a cream or beige light coat or even a contrasting red shirt and red heels. White pants are a classic wardrobe item and work well in business and casual environments.

The Layers

Layering your outfits is a great way to get the most out of your summer and winter wardrobes without buying anything new. Try wearing your summer dress with a light winter knitwear jersey. Or, pair your jeans with a light summer top and a pair of heels. When it comes to your autumn wardrobe just about anything goes.
