Have you been looking for easy ways to organise your closet? If you answered yes, then I have the perfect easy solutions to help you. In my last blog in the Closet Clean Up series, I touched on easy ways to declutter your wardrobe and if you’ve already done this that you’re about a third of the way to discovering a more workable closet.

Having a well-organised closet means that you are quickly and easily able to find the outfits you’re looking for. Planning your wardrobe choices will also be easier. If you’ve already gone through the decluttering process you’ve let go of everything which no longer fits, was damaged and you no longer wear. An important thing to remember when tackling the organisation of your wardrobe is that your results will be dependent on the amount of space you have to work with.

Supplies Needed To Organise Your Closet

There are several amazing storage solutions for your closet. These do not need to be expensive either. Plastic woven baskets are amazing for the storage of underwear while stackable drawers work well for socks, pantyhose, and belts. There are also many affordable shoe box solutions available online or in specialist plastic stores.

Best Closet Storage Ideas

Storage solutions for your closet do not always have to be in the form of containers. That’s right, even the way you hang or pack your clothing items can be classified as closet storage. The idea behind this is that you make the best use of the space you have available at all times.

Here are my top three ideas to help you get the most out of the space you have in your wardrobe:

  • Step it up with a foldable stool neatly tucked away in your closet. This way, you don’t have to reach too far for the items you placed higher up in the wardrobe.
  • Hanging shoe racks are a great way to clear up a little closet floor space. The racks are affordable and can be used to store flat shoes while heels should be boxed and stored on the floor of your closet.
  • Free up a little horizontal space by trying your hand at double hanging items that you don’t use all too often. This could be two pairs of pants over each other or a blazer over its matching top.

Start To Organise Your Closet

The first step in organising your closet is to group similar items together. This means folded shirts together and socks together. You may want to do this step while you’re decluttering to make the process easier. But, it really isn’t necessary. You can also use the grouping process to plan where you will place your clothing items. Ideally, the items you wear the most need to be placed on shelves or hangers in an area where you can easily access them. The best place for this is at eye-level. This way you are likely to easily spot your favourite clothing items.

Pro-Tip – Organise Your Closet

Grab a cute container and place it on a shelf below the eye-level. Use this container for odds and ends which some-how make their way into your closet. These items can include hair clips, change, and rubber bands. They can also include removable bra straps or clothing embellishments that can be removed. By doing this you are less likely to lose these items and you’ll prevent future clutter.
